Privacy Policy
Updated September 14, 2026
This policy covers the Digestiv website and mobile app, operated by Bruce Blay. We use account information to provide the service and your optional profile and reading feedback to personalize digests. We do not sell your personal information or use it for cross-company advertising tracking.
What we collect
Account information: your name, email address, account ID, and authentication records. Passwords are stored hashed. Google or Apple sign-in supplies an account identifier and the information that provider shares, such as your name and email address. Apple may supply a private relay email address instead of your personal address.
Your reader profile, if you choose to fill it in: things like city or region, age, occupation, interests, and any notes you provide. Location is entered by you; the app does not request GPS access. Avoid entering sensitive information that you do not want processed to personalize your digests.
What you make and do: your digests and their editions, and your reactions (more like this, less like this, saves, kudos, subscriptions), follows, and blocks. We also store reports and support messages you submit.
Purchases: credit top-ups, generation charges, balances, and transaction identifiers. Payments take place through Apple In-App Purchase on iOS or Stripe checkout on the web.
Technical information: authentication records can include IP addresses and browser or device software information. Our hosting service retains request and error logs for operation, security, and troubleshooting.
What it's used for
We use this information to sign you in, manage your digests and credits, deliver editions and service emails, remember your preferences, handle reports, and maintain the service.
To research and generate editions, we send the digest recipe, relevant reader-profile information, prior-edition context, and reading feedback to the AI provider used for that generation. Its research tools may turn these details into web searches. The website's profile-organizing feature also sends your notes and existing profile to an AI provider.
Profile fields are not displayed directly on public pages, but they influence generated content. Review an edition before sharing it: AI output can make mistakes, including revealing details you supplied. Removing a profile detail does not rewrite editions already generated from it.
Who else is involved
Cloudflare provides hosting, database storage, and operational diagnostics. Resend delivers service emails, including edition emails, and receives the recipient address and message content. Google and Apple handle their respective sign-in options.
Supported AI providers are Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, and xAI; which receives a request depends on the feature and provider configuration. Profile organization uses Anthropic. Providers process requests under the terms and retention settings that apply to their services; this policy does not promise that they immediately delete all inputs or use identical policies.
Apple and Stripe process their respective payments and retain payment and transaction information under their own policies. Digestiv records the purchase, subscription status and associated account so it can credit your balance and provide paid access. Our application does not store full card numbers or card security codes.
Source links and remotely hosted article images connect to other websites, which may receive your IP address and request information. Those sites, sign-in providers, and payment pages have their own privacy policies. Service providers may process information outside your state or country.
Cookies and device storage
The website uses authentication cookies and browser storage. The mobile app stores sign-in credentials in secure device storage and remembers local preferences such as appearance. Signing out ends your local signed-in session; it does not delete your account. Third-party sign-in and checkout pages may use their own cookies and storage.
What's visible to others
Public digests, their editions, kudos counts, and subscriber counts are visible to anyone, and a public digest shows its author's name. Unlisted digests are visible to anyone with the link. Private digests are visible only to you. Your reader-profile fields, individual reactions, saves, and follow list are not displayed publicly. People who receive an edition by email or copy shared content may retain it even after you remove it from Digestiv.
Your data, your call
You can edit or clear your profile, delete digests, remove reactions, and change edition-email preferences. Edition emails also include an unsubscribe link. Clearing profile information stops its use in future generation after the change is saved; information already sent to a provider is subject to that provider's retention practices.
In the mobile app, open You, then Settings, then Delete account. Account deletion removes your account and its associated profile, digests, editions, authentication records, and credit ledger from our active database. Product feedback and surviving content reports may remain with the account reference removed. We retain the payment references, amounts, and refund status needed to return unused purchased credit and resolve payment problems. To prevent repeated free-trial claims, we also retain keyed hashes of email and sign-in identifiers with trial usage dates for up to one year. These anti-abuse records do not include your profile or digest content and are not used for advertising. Deletion does not recall delivered emails or copies held by others, or automatically erase records retained by Apple, Stripe and other providers.
Account data is retained while your account remains active unless you remove it. Operational logs, backups, and provider records have separate retention periods and are not necessarily erased at the moment you delete an account. Contact us to request access to or a copy of your information, request deletion assistance, or ask about retained records. We may need to verify account ownership before fulfilling a request.
